Book Week 2019

Week 1 next term is School Book Week.

Scholastic Book Fair will be set up in the School Hall and available before and after school everyday, except Tuesday and Friday afternoon.

Your child will be able to look around the Book Fair and make a wish list. Remember, the school benefits from every sale. Eftpos will be available.

Your child will bring home a pamphlet with some of the books and items that will be available.

During the week there will be many visitors coming to read to groups and classes.

If you would like to be one of those readers, please contact me on 027 2057604 or ali.talbot@stjosephstimaru.school.nz and I will timetable you into a class or group.

Grandparents are most welcome.

A photo competition Reading With Your Pet or Most Unusual Place To Read a Book will be running so get snapping in the holidays and send it to me with your child’s

Name and what House they are in Please

.If you have some cold wet days in the holidays get the kids to make some crafty things associated with a book (story) e.g. dioramas, mobiles, bookmarks, Book Art and bring them along in Week 1 next term.

On Friday 3 May the students are invited to come dressed as a book character.

They must know what character they are and what book they come from and perhaps even have a copy of the book.

Finalists from each class will be chosen and interviewed about their character.

A parade of Book Characters will happen between 9.30 and 10.30 on the Friday morning, in the School Hall. The school holidays would be a great time to get these costumes organised and get to know their character well.

Happy Holidays.
