Active Transport Report

At St Joseph's school we are proactive in promoting active and sustainable transport methods. We encourage students to join either of our walking school buses each day or to be dropped off along the way to school to walk, scooter or bike the rest of the way. Each week we record the number of students who actively travel to school and have a running tally for ‘Students to Actively Travel to Christchurch’ . The distance of all students actively getting to school is collated and added together to see how far each class gets – students then present at assembly indicating as a whole school how far they had gone – from this the distance has increased, as it has been a very positive initiative.

If you want to find out more about the walking school buses or the drop off points, there is information in the information book or talk to Diana Young the teacher who coordinates this.
